The designer and model Vsevolod Cherepanov continues to make high-profile collaborations with major brands.Recently it was Nike, and now it has teamed up with the Japanese watch brand Casio G-Shock to present an updated version of the famous DW-5600.

Kazuo Kashio, chairman and CEO of Casio Computer Co. who played a key role in developing the G-Shock wristwatches, died of pneumonia at a hospital in Tokyo on Monday, the company said Tuesday. He was 89.
Kashio, a native of Tokyo, was the third of four brothers, who in 1957 founded the Japanese electronics-maker and commercialized the world’s first all-electric compact calculator.
He propped up the sale of the G-Shock products after Casio launched its signature, shock-resistance watch brand in 1983, seeking to change the notion at that time that watches are “fragile and valuable” items.
The G-Shock was initially only popular in certain markets, such as the United States, but it eventually became a global hit. The worldwide shipment of the watches reached 100 million units in August last year, the company said.
Kashio succeeded his older brother Tadao Kashio as president in 1988 and remained in the post until 2015 when he was replaced by his eldest son Kazuhiro and became chairman.
“By breaking free from preconceptions and conventional notions, we have conceived products that are truly needed and used our digital technologies to make them a reality,” Kazuo Kashio said in a chairman’s message posted on the company’s website.
He also emphasized in the message the importance of developing products that create new markets.
The base model is the big case GAX-100 with analog Tide Graph, which provides tide information in an intuitive format.
The models of this lineup are available in a choice of three hues: pearl blue, pink and green all done to a subdued finish.
The special edition men’s connected G-SHOCK MR-G model is individually handcrafted with a one-of-a-kind MR-G and will retail for $7,400 beginning in July 2018, with just 350 pieces available worldwide.
The latest collaboration with third generation master craftsman Biho Asano was inspired by the unique texture found on the hilt guard or “Tetsu-Tsuba” of traditional Japanese swords. To achieve this one-of-a-kind look to the watch, Asano individually hammered each bezel, resulting in an artistic titanium sword guard finish on every watch known as “Arashi-Tuchime.”
Additionally, the colors featured on both the bezel and band boast regal shades of copper and deep violet found on the handle of Japanese swords. The deep colors are achieved through the new application of AIP® (Arc Ion Plating), a hardened coating to which a deep-layer hardening is applied for high abrasion-resistance.

Casio has officially inaugurated its shop-in-shop at Concepts store in The City Walk Dubai with the simultaneous launching of its G-Shock x Stash limited-edition watch. The newly opened G-Shock outlet is Casio’s third globally, with the first two being located in the US.
The new GA-100ST-2A watch, which features original splash pattern and spray can packaging, is the result of collaboration between Casio and New York street artist Stash, who is widely regarded as an innovator in the world of urban design.
“Stash’s fascination with the urban environment is evident in his perfectly executed photographic work, which features a combination of city motifs alongside the latest lighting and printing techniques,” a press release said.
Casio said the exclusively designed timepiece features a black-on-black print of aerosol caps on the band and case, over which a blue splash pattern was applied. Featuring Stash’s logo, the GA-100 model is equipped with shock and magnetic resistant and 200M water resistant structure.
The watch also has an auto LED light, world time (48 cities + UTC), five daily alarms with one snooze, 1/1000-second stopwatch, a speed indicator, countdown timer, and 12/24 hour formats — all in a 51.2 mm case.

Mahmood Saleh Abbar Company, the exclusive agent of the Japanese Casio Computer Co., Ltd, opened last month a new G-Shock branch in Jeddah’s Queen’s Building.
The 51 square meter store is in line with Casio’s expansion strategy and in order to enhance its presence across Saudi Arabia.
The showroom includes collections of Casio’s recent G-shock technology, Baby-G and shock resistant watches.
“The opening of this showroom is considered a way to communicate with clients and to create new marketing channels to attract G-shock lovers and fans.
